Post 18: Curitiba

Goodbye, Sao Paulo.

We woke up early this morning to arrive at the airport around 8am. It felt so strange leaving our hostel this morning because it truly has become a home for us these past few weeks, but we were also excited to continue our trip in Curitiba.

Our flight ended up getting cancelled, but we managed to get  an only slightly later flight at 12. I got some pictures as we took off, and I think, for people at home, these accurately capture just how big and sprawling the city of Sao Paulo is...

We arrived in Curitiba around 1 and headed for our hotel. I'm rooming with different people now, which is different, but honestly cool because I'll hopefully get to know a different group of girls better. We ate lunch quickly and then headed to a bus for a tour of the city.

We stopped at a few different parks. It was so cool to see just how green the city is. There are recycling bins everywhere and you never see a trash can without a recycling bin next to it. We saw the old historical part of the city that had buildings with old architecture and mosaic roads and sidewalks. We stopped at an art museum, and also at the city opera house, which was tucked away in the woods.

The last thing we saw on the tour was this beautiful park with fountains and an amazing view. We took a bunch of pictures here as the sun went down.

For dinner we ate at a burger place. At first I was hesitant because I thought that it would be just like any burger restaurant back in the U.S., and boy was I mistaken. Although our food took awhile to arrive, it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. I had never thought about the fact that Brazil is known for its cattle and meat before, but it makes sense that the burgers would be good here. And they were. It was a good night.
