Post 16: Mackenzie Presentations

Yesterday we presented our Mackenzie group projects. We arrived around 9am and were introduced to a manager of ICLEI (an energy company in Sao Paulo) who would be judging our presentations. Then we got started. My group presented towards the end of the time we were there. We were all pretty nervous, especially Luan, our teammate from Mackenzie, but our presentation ended up going well! We were at Mackenzie until about 1pm.

After saying goodbye to the Brazilian students at Mackenzie, a few of us went to get lunch on the way home. We tried Feijoada, a traditional black bean stew served only on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The tradition comes from Brazilian slaves -- their masters would leave them scraps of meat from the week, and they would mix it into stew. And that's exactly what it was like. We were given a huge plate of rice, and a large pot of beans and random meat scraps. It was definitely an experience, and I'm glad I tried it, but I'm not sure I would have it again. :)

After lunch, we had free time to relax. I did laundry for a few hours, (took this wonderful picture), and spent some time in the hammock for awhile.

We went to the seafood restaurant for dinner again, which was just as amazing as the first time I went. We got some amazing Caipirinhas as well (they had crushed fruit in them and were served in jam jars). Then our whole group went out to a club at night. We all had a lot of fun because we had all just finished our presentations and we were all in a good mood. And the best part was we could sleep in the next day. The music was great, too, and they actually played a lot of American music so we could all sing along. It was a great last late night in Sao Paulo.
